Green Meadows Preserve / Oregon Park
Green Meadows Preserve was previously a family-owned farm with pastures, wooded areas, and creeks. While there is a fairly large section of the park right next to Dallas Highway, with the rolling terrain the sounds of the road fade away quickly. A local birder (and legend!) Jim Bearden has built, installed, and maintains over 31 bluebird nesting boxes that can be viewed from a great little walking trail which is 2.3 miles long. Per the website: https://greenmeadowspreserve.org/bluebirds/ 233 baby bluebirds were raised in the 2021 nesting season alone! This is a fantastic resource for the birder in your family that absolutely loves seeing Bluebirds but rarely gets the chance to do so. Donations are possible and we encourage them also! Jim can strategically place a bird box on your property for a small fee, and you will get quite a bit of education about the nesting habits, direction to face the nesting boxes and more while he is there! Thanks for all you do, Jim!
